Protect Our Most Vulnerable and Stand Up to Trump
Protect Our Most Vulnerable and Stand Up to Trump
California must be a firewall against cruelty, fear, and attacks on fundamental rights.
All four of Scott’s grandparents were sent to Japanese American internment camps during World War II, including Manzanar. That background is why he believes government has a duty to protect civil rights, not trample them; to defend vulnerable communities, not scapegoat them; and to make sure history does not repeat itself. In an era of Trump, MAGA extremism, and ICE raids that terrorize families, Scott believes California must stand firm.
Scott’s record
Has opposed Trump’s ICE agenda and raids that separate families and detain people with excessive force.
Fought for funding for community organizations serving immigrant communities, working families, and at-risk youth.
Served as a Japanese American Citizens League fellow in Washington and has long seen civil rights work as interconnected across communities.
Led an effort to ensure the Pride flag can be flown on Union City property, reflecting his public record as an ally to LGBTQ+ residents.
What Scott will fight for in the State Senate
Defend and strengthen sanctuary protections and prohibit local cooperation with abusive federal immigration enforcement.
Expand immigrant legal services, rapid-response support, language access, and protections for families interacting with schools, hospitals, and courts.
Protect Medi-Cal, CalFresh, and the broader safety net so families are not abandoned when Washington fails them.
Defend reproductive freedom, abortion access, and the right to make personal healthcare decisions without political interference.
Defend LGBTQ+ Californians from discrimination in housing, healthcare, education, and public life, including protecting access to gender-affirming care.
Use state policy, contracting, and investment standards to stand up for human rights and civil rights at home and abroad.
Scott’s promise is not symbolic. He will use the power of state government to protect people who are being targeted, excluded, or pushed to the margins. His guiding principle is the same one he learned in the Navy: leave no one behind.
