The Bay Area must be a place where everyone, including working and middle class families can make it. That means creating more affordable and market housing, building more infill housing near transit, and championing creative solutions to help property owners create more new housing. It also means holding insurance companies and energy providers accountable so we can make insuring and powering our homes more achievable for all of us.

Californians want safer and more vibrant communities. We want more good police officers walking the beat, violence prevention programs that offer hope and a way out for those who need it, more opportunities for at-risk youth, better support for victims, and stronger re-entry programs for the formerly incarcerated. We also want stricter gun control, and we want ICE agents out of our communities. Everyone deserves to be safe and nobody should live in fear.

California is the last line of defense when it comes to protecting our most vulnerable from an out of control federal government. Scott will work to shore up funding for programs like Medi-Cal and CalFresh, and fight for family-supporting, sustainable jobs and wages. He will stand up for seniors, immigrants, all people of color, the LGBTQ+ community, and women in need of reproductive healthcare.

Universal pre-school and universal healthcare don’t have to be pie in the sky, unreachable dreams. A state where everyone is housed doesn’t have to be a fantasy. This is California. With the political will, we can deliver the future our kids deserve. That’s worth fighting for.

There are innovative companies–including in the tech and AI industry–that want to be in California, who seek to do good, and who are proud to be a part of the fabric and diversity of our state. Let’s work with them to bring in more tech, biomedical, and other industries in a way that fosters innovation and creativity and creates opportunity, while protecting our workers, our privacy, our children’s safety, attention spans, and mental health–and our democracy.

California is a nation unto itself and we can continue to make a major impact on the climate crisis, even with Republicans controlling Washington. We must defend and strengthen our emissions standards, reduce air pollution, focus on building housing near transit, enhance energy efficiency standards for buildings, and reduce the environmental impact of our infrastructure and vehicles.
